Different Packaging Materials are suitable for different purposes. One should consider the durability of the material so that it can fulfill the desired function. One should also take into account the cost of the Packaging one opts for. Flexible Packaging is both Multi-purpose and lightweight. The Various kinds of Packaging Materials are as follows:  

 Plastic: Plastic bags are used to preserve commodities for a longer period, such as food. They are used in products that are to be protected from moisture. They are light yet strong. They are convenient to hold and protect the product sufficiently. Plastic Containers and sheets have a number of useful applications. 
Paper bags are useful in storing products whose flavour and freshness needs to be preserved. It can be applied to lightweight products.  

 Fabric: Bags, made of jute or cotton, are very durable and can easily carry heavyweight objects. Such bags, made from jute or cotton, are available in colourful designs and patterns; thus rate high on aesthetic appeal. 

 Polyester: Polyester Packaging is highly resilient. It has a glossy look which facilitates promotion. It is recyclable and offers high resistance to degradation caused by ultraviolet radiation. 

 Bubble Wrap: It is a reusable Packaging Material which covers the product in a number of layers. It protects the product from scratches and cracks, especially when in transit. 

 Tissue Paper: Tissue Paper is beneficial in enveloping fragile and breakable items like glass materials and porcelain in transit. When used as filler, it keeps the stored materials from shifting and knocking against each other, thus saving them from damage while being transported. 

 Shrink Wrap: Shrink Wrap is utilised in Packaging VCDs and CDs. It is also of similar benefit for wrapping Materials which are prone to spoilage.
